Sign up for a Petworth litter cleanup on March 28th

Just in time for Earth Day, a group is organizing a litter pick up in and around Petworth, with support by the Alice Ferguson Foundation.

On March 28th, from 9am to noon, you can join fellow volunteers to help clean up several spots around the neighborhood — you can even help choose the locations. Organizer Eric Heller reached out to share their invite:

Come join your neighbors on March 28th from 9am-12pm (April 4th rain date) for “litter-ally” the most fun you’ll have that weekend.

Need more of a reason to join? Did you know that DC regularly cleans and maintains 25,000+ catch basins, removing 23 tons of debris daily? Every year, 400 tons of debris and trash is cleaned that has made its way downstream to Anacostia and Potomac Rivers.

We can use your help in a number of different ways:

  • Volunteer to help clean up on March 28th

  • Help organize the event, get the word out

  • Identify any local businesses willing to donate water, coffee, or snacks for volunteers

When you sign up, let us know about the worst litter-strewn blocks and we’ll try to add it as a clean up location.

If you’re able to help, please sign up via a Google Form.
